A heavy producing fig tree special to the Twiggs family. This variety has been grown by the Twiggs family in Central NJ zone 6B for over 50 years and thought to originate from Italy as a Mt. Etna Type of fig. It shares many attributes with the popular fig variety, Chicago Hardy. This cold-hardy variety will ripen a breba (first early) crop ready to enjoy in late July and an abundant main crop ready to harvest early to mid-October. This variety does well and produces in a pot, but thrives in ground and can grow to be 20’ around and tall. We suggest winter protection for the first winter and a deep mulch layer every fall after leaf drop to help protect lower growth and roots against deep frosts of winter.
Trees shipped in 4×4×12” tree pots and suggested to transplant to a larger container or in-ground upon receiving.
